God loves you

God loves you

A Poem by linda m. crate
"

I was really angry when I wrote this one, but I still think the words ring true. Judge not, I know, but I really needed to spit some vitriol that day.

"
maybe if you had
apologized
i could believe you were
my brother in Christ,
but you never did
so don't call yourself my brother
for you have wounded me
worse than any
man of this world ever has
"
God loves you,
and i know He would help
you should you look upon His
countenance;
yet you're too determined to go your
own way,
a hedonist in love with the ways
of the world
too comfortable to change
"
once i mistakenly thought you loved me
you were a good actor,
but under all the charm and finesse you're
a liar; a coward, an adulterer,
selfish and cruel
as the ice that shrouds your winter heart;
i was the child of summer meant
to burn away the icicles
of distance you constructed between yourself
and the world, but you would not let me
"
too enamored were you with the
wounds scarring your heart,
you could not let them go
so instead you told me to fly away;
God loves you and so do i,
but never again shall i trust you or need you
or even want you (because the nasty
email full of arrogance and pride drove me
away) you can't claim Christ
if you're just another prisoner in this world
unwilling to drift from the call of your lust.
