Guess what I am...

Guess what I am...

A Poem by Rebecca Conway
"

Riddle- can you guess what the object is?

"

My keys fit no lock,

They will open no door,

I make bodies dance to a thousand beats,

But no move shall I ever make.

I can be opened up to reveal my insides,

But no blood shall flow from my wounds.

A deft touch can make me purr,

Clumsy extremities produce snarls of discontent.

I’m a sturdy ox,

An elephant in the room,

An insatiable money grabber,

An unpractical hollow box

Whose song enchants.

A familiar friend always there

In childhood, in marriage,

And in passing.

A very cleverly stated piece. I too had correctly determined the answer, but was a very good riddle. Thank you for the enjoyment.

Thank you holly :)
I love this poem. There is a street wise riddle happening here and I agree. I see
the Hungarian folk song, the hypersurface of three dimensional space that's
in a jazz rhythm, the boogie-woogie canzone of the lyric rock and role vision,
the thumping sign-of-the-heaven that was the primal basis of the Motown sound,
the humble sentiment of Chopin, the holy vertical leaps and sorrow of
Mahalia Jackson and everything that happened with this instrument inbetween.

The riddle was a simple one to solve. But the meaning is far too complex
for poetry....Nicely done,
dana
