The Song of the Dreamers

The Song of the Dreamers

A Poem by Westminster Abbey
"

My third poem. Inspired by Owl City

"

You feel so cold and abandoned

But you’re not alone

You have friends who guide

You through the unknown

We start a fire

To keep us alive

And soon enough

It’s burning bright

Surrounded by all this beauty

It’s hard for us to believe

That we built this place

By the dreams we conceived

Together we paint a sunset

That sparkles in the dust

For there is nothing in this world

That can be achieved without trust

We create a night skyline

That reflects in your eyes

The stars will sing to you

Their enchanting lullabies

In this malevolent world

Some might say we’re dreamers

Some will call us naïve, frivolous,

But to me, we are believers

We are the understanders,

The escapists and achievers,

The prophets, the paracosmists,

The visionaries and leaders

And we will not break

We will not fail

We will not quit

We will prevail

Author's Note

Westminster Abbey
I know this probably isn't any good, it's only my third poem. This poem was inspired by Owl City and a few things happening in my life right now. I try not to write depressing poems that will bring people down, and instead try to sound optimistic, and bring people up. So here it is :)

Very beautiful. I think this poem from you is on so much a different level than your other ones. It's inspiring, relate-able, gorgeous, written well, and it speaks of how a heart adapts and finds itself inside the many things in this world that help make it stronger and birth imagination. I can't help but wonder about Nora while reading this. Talking to her, almost daily, she is in my thoughts, and this poem just has my heart in a hug of sorts. ....sorry. That second to the last stanza was of great quality and explained a lot of what the speed of the poem was and how important it was to pay attention to the details!! Beautiful, Abbey....... xoxo -Mark
