...to often we hide our words....

Simple Words

 

the other day

you talked with me,

simple words, wrapped in a simple song,

yet they spoke to me,

leading a clear way,

a path of no return out of this maze.

they were magical words

formed by your whispering breath

caressing each vowel

and syllable

as they passed your lips.

I heard you

and thought

this must be the way Neruda

felt while walking

the sands of his Isla Negra

hand in hand with Delia

before the winds raged,

before she went away.

I savor these words

you leave me,

their grittiness

silences my tongue

with the fire of your heart

and I want more.

more of you

of these words

flavored by your lips;

more of your syllables and vowels

wrapped around your

simple song.

The songs that we want to remember, we HAVE to remember, we MUST remember....and the ones that we can never hear often enough.
