Colors

 

 

Like a butterfly,

my heart leads me far away.

From North to South

and back again,

gaining strength

from sipping the nectar

of your flower,

my colors are always yours.

Liked the light tone and imagery of this brief offering. Too many relationship poems are of either the can't live without you, baby or you done me wrong, you dirty sob varieties.

thanks John... I know what you mean, I guess I have written some of those poems... and I agree, how can you say a possessive poem or a break-up poem is a love poem??? I guess you could but it would have to be a more sub section of love poem.... but if you think about it more, love and poems come in many different forms, so love lost is still a love poem even if one of them involved is a sob.... further on this, don't you think in some ways that there are so many of these types of poems written in a symptom of how far society has become so self absorbed and ugly???? it's one of the reasons I think the music created in the 60s and 70s were so good was that there was a tenderness to them.... anyway, your reply got me thinking and that is not often a good thing... lol.. thanks again for the comment and the visit...

I absolutely LOVE the sensual suggestion you're sending & it's so subtle, I didn't catch it until the second time thru -- esp. lines 3 & 4 -- almost forgot the old adage about "going around the world" but this poem brings back an avalanche around that idea without using very many words.
