....sleep will come... eventually

3am Blues �" Love Sonnet XXIX

 

 

3am, I’m wide awake and

you are rummaging through my

mind, kicking up dust and

disturbing the cobwebs that

 

protect the memories of holding

your hand as we walk through

verdant trails; of the warmth

of your perfumed skin as it

 

lies next to mine. There, 3am

blues haunt, they upend the

universe around me, as I wish

 

for this night to fade into

oblivion, the place where the

Blues thrives and holds me tight.

Yeah, those old memories, they are quite destructive sometimes. I love the way the cobwebs protect some of the memories. You've been holding onto these for a long time. Sometimes we can never let go and don't want to, right? Enjoyed the sentiment. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, held for a very long time; perhaps too long. But I like to think there was a time when I had a 'love supreme' as Coltrane would say/play.

i have that album! those two are both Kings ... Baby King and Big King! :))))))))) i'm not much schooled but i'd say that's a pretty rebellious "sonnet" Sir Red! stangely i awoke this morning a little after three .. i don't try much to fall back asleep at such times ... the mind wonders too freely ... i get up and here i am ... at the Writers' Cafe' :) i agree with Amanda about the first 2 Vs and the imagery .. some of our memories are just too close to the bone and important to us to let go or let them warp with our oldness ... but they do ... alas :(
