I Am Me

I Am Me

A Poem by Rhea752

I am who I am
If you don't like who you see here
Keep it to yourself
And come back in a couple of years

I am who I am
Though I'll not be like this forever
Everybody changes, going through life
Like a drifting feather

I am who I am
A star in a galaxy
I shine in my own way
As you must surely see

I am who I am
I don't like everything about me
But parts will fall off and new branches will grow
Just like a sprouting tree

I am who I am
Beautiful
Bright
And absolutely me

I like this poem. The premise reminds me of a poem I wrote a month ago called "What is a Man? (God not this crap again)" I was poking fun at all the "what is a man" poetry that had been popping up lately with a self descriptive piece like this one though style was radically different. Yep. I like this poem.

Thanks :)
You defined yourself and also others who think that they are independent and spirited with personality of her/his own.Every individual is different and thus needs to be treated with care.
Very thoughtful and illuminating write.

This poem is true. People tend to judge others by looks, and how people act. But this is what makes us.. us. We are who we are. Good write! :D

A good view to have. Once you break the chains of caring what other people think, you will truly be free.

lol thank you :)
I like the metaphors though the metaphor in the second stanza sounded a little incomplete to me. Still it reminded me, for the briefest of moments, of something written by Dr. Suess.
