Let Me Go

Let Me Go

A Poem by Rhea752

Stitches and patches holding me together
The faint scent of formaldehyde as my perfume
Hollows in my body
Crude sutures to hide my insides
Decaying slowly comes
Skin hardens and roughens to a leathery touch
Peeling blood soaked bandages
Milky white eyes stare into yours
The things you do to preserve my image

This is awesome! Having studied cadavers, I am very familiar with the things you are describing in this poem. I really enjoyed the lines "the faint scent of formaldehyde..." and "skin hardens and roughens to a leathery touch." These lines really express first of all, the fact that you literally cannot get the smell of formaldehyde out of your clothes and also the very distinct way that skin behaves post mortem. Where did you experience this? I don't know many people with these same sorts of experiences.

Thx
Imagery was so successful here. Really the highlight of the entire poem. Did not expect that ending but it left me with a kind of purpose. I think this is the best I've seen from you now. You really gave feeling something extra.Your mastery of the daunting task of writing out pain is superb.

On a body... slash person. Thx
Self destruction and treading the world as if you were dead (although, ironically, I'm not very fond of zombies) entice me so, and I've caught the shivers of men &'women seeking to preserve theirselves through botox and plastic surgery. Well done!
