Remember The Roses

Remember The Roses

A Poem by Aehr
"

It's from the point of view of a boy. I just thought I'd give it a try.

"
Remember when you were twelve,
And were suffering from some disease?
The boy who left you roses,
Was forever and always me

And remember when you turned sixteen,
And the man you loved broke your heart?
The boy who left you daisies
Was always me from the very start

Oh, and when you turned twenty,
And your Mommy passed away
The one who left you jasmines
Was always me, everyday

And then when you turned twenty four
And married the other man who loved you
I was the one who left you daisies again
And I cried all day under the blue

And then you left the city at twenty eight
I was the man who left you roses at that time
And in the grief of your leaving
It was me who left you that rhyme

Remember me, my love? I was always by your side
But now I see your eyes close
And I just hope you keep me with you
And remember me with this last rose

This is from the point of view of a boy. I really wanted to write from the point of view of a guy once, and I'm glad that I wrote this poem. Again, it's after a long spell...

oh that's such a cute and sad poem. I loved the emotions in this one. And the idea with the flowers is very creative. I think you're very talented, I really enjoy reading your poems :)

you're most welcome :)
A beautiful and sad poem. Flower do symbol memories and thoughts. I like the use of flowers to make your point in the poem. I like the complete poem. A strong ending to a outstanding poem.

I guess so. I haven't ever written from a male's point of view :) Thank you for reviewing!
A melancholy write - I think it does well displaying unrequited love and mourning - Its a strong theme - we are often drawn to things and people we can't have - we romanticize it - and the fantasy becomes more real than the reality - this poem seems to allude to that.

thank you! :)
This was a poem that flowed well for the most part. The last line in the 4th stanza didn't seem to fit with the rest of that stanza for me. The blue what? or where they blue from sadness? I like how you tell the boys story even though he seems like a stalker. It is still a beautiful love story. Unrequited love and I wonder if she knew that he loved her that much. Beautiful write.
