Party Like It's 1919

Party Like It's 1919

A Poem by Richard Lane

in the shadow of your spirits light
i saw you with your hand

reaching mine at
10:30 pm.

then it seemed my nervousness

at what might happen if i got caught drinking that

last beautiful glass wine

so tonight let's dance like it's 1919

then we could do all of

partying beginning tonight

and continuing

a few days

before alcohol consumption is made illegal by

the strike of the midnight clock

and tonight I will surrender the music                     playing tonight and for once if not for every night

Nice work and because I have seen your pictures of Baltimore and I am I guess quite familiar with your report style/ occasionally autobiographical/ diary style writing I felt that this was quiote fitting with your Richard Lane, brand of expression.
