My Son

My Son

A Poem by R.J. Seoul

So, here is your life, young man,

Paint it red, and paint it blue.

Don’t you let it run away, young man.

Keep it close, so close to you.

Take the chances you are given, my boy,

And when you’re troubled know you grew.

Jump the cliff if it is great, my boy

And remember the fall as if you flew.

It’s the only thing you have, my son

So when you smile, make it true.

And when the troubles are too much, my son,

Know I’m here, for your rescue.

This is very charming in a rustic sense. "Jump the cliff if it is great, my boy/And remember the fall as if you flew." is my favourite part. The last line is a little choppy, but other than this, it has been an enjoyable read. :)
