Her contemporary footwork slid silk 

across steel grey flint

a hint ...........

she plie'd and squared her hips;

breeze, sway stepping in line

with sublime electric quick draw and

John Wayne swag

He backs up ....

bows his head 

tips his hat and

smiling wide sky charm   -   speaking

milk tongued draaaaaaaaawl .........

says:

"I only line dance ma'am! ....................."

dear Gene... I met Roger at "Bronco Billy's" in 1987 with a
Band that arrived at seven pm every night.
I had my eyes on a Cowboy at the end of the Bar.
I asked him to dance, and he said, "Not unless they play
"Because of you, God made Oklahoma". I returned to my
Table, thought for awhile, and then asked the Band to
play that song. I have kept him in Cowboy Boots to this day.
He has kept me "In line" ever since. I think your poem is
very whimsical. truly, Pat

dear E... At the time I worked as a Secretary in a Patent and Trademark Law Firm in Washington, D.C. My boss had his birthday party at Bronco Billy's on the corner of 19th and L Street close to the building where we worked at the PTO Law Office. Roz and I decided to ask the two cute guys at the Bar to dance.
I just bought Roger a new pair of Tecovas black leather Cowboy Boots. Love the Country song, "You're the reason God made Oklahoma" and I'm still missing you... a Calico Cat and a two room flat... by David Frizzell and Shelly West. truly, Pat bless you...

"cotton eyed joe"!! and the "bus stop"!! i am not familiar with them and will go a-googlin' .. your youth was blessed with smart leaders if they had you line dancing at that time of life .. such an awkward age .. at least for me it was .. breaking the ice with the whole class in line is a great idea .. thanks for sharing and for reading me stuff Cherrie .. shore 'nuff! ;)

i enjoy line dancing....but also a slow dance here and there...

no kidding!! you are a dancer?!! i would not have guessed it sir ... when i graduated from Nursing school (mostly women) we celebrated at a local "cowboy" bar and had such a great time line dancing .. after that i dated a line dancer that took me to a couple classes ... that rattled me a bit ... trying to remember the steps and then he wanted us to be kind of spontaneous using the steps in different orders .. my mind went befuddled on me ... and i went to a Ceili once and really enjoyed that ... thanks for reading jacob .. and sharing your impressions and a bit of your life ... yeah! i'd say he is the strong and very silent type .. a little inflexible too ;}

line dancing was totally out of character, though...i always danced to rock music...from the time i was about 4 years old...ha ha...and i did take some ball room in high school...didn't care for it much but it helps for dancing at weddings...:)

yeah ..i am slow to the pen there is no arguing that my friend! thanks so much for waiting :) James Dean ... now there went Mr. Cool eh!? its been a while since i watched one of his movies .. East of Eden ... wow .. about 2 1/2 yrs ago .. it was on the Turner Classic Movie Channel .. he definitely had the head bow down pat ... it kind of came from his fingertips, dropped shoulder that the head just kind of naturally followed :)))) what a rebel! thanks for reading and reviewing always Neville .. an honor sir!

ahahaha something in my bucket list that i came close to doing ..but won't .. is a visit to the nearest bar that has a mechanical bull ... i was so close to doing it ... was going to make it a motorcycle trip about 300 miles away and hook up with a lady friend to go to that bar .. i changed course before the event and seems like quickly there after got a stroke of sanity .. i was in my 50s at the time and the lower back was already 20 yrs gone bad ;) ah well .. i did the next best thing on the list and went sky diving :)))))))))))))
