It's a Wrap

It's a Wrap

A Poem by Einstein Noodle

Image result for wrapped body

it's a wrap
frankincense, cedar, myrrh and
linens with
tincture of anger
Mercurochrome teeth to clean with

salmagundi of blame and defense
like rancid flax and floss
spiteful salt skin scrubbing
its like ...................... grass blade finger cut ,
paper  thin-sliced meat .......and
incubated
coming to roost ........ digging to root
eggs of malcontent

murdering heart and soul

               another heated spoonful
                                                    bite down
brown dope
..............................................brown paper bag

a suicide.                      a

murder suicide
of the heart
and soul.

but  don't mind me;
................................i don't know my neighbor

i barely know myself.

Such vivid imagery, dear E. The mercurochrome teeth we bare, the salt we scrub on bleeding wounds, grass blade finger cuts and the eggs of malcontent and mal-intent we lay in them and watch those maggots of death hatch and spurt through.

Do we do all this to things and people most precious? Yes, we do. Are we so evil and vile...perhaps yes or perhaps no...Perhaps, as you said, we are just lost....

I enjoyed and loved this read.

The world is in turmoil, no doubt about it. The mention of Mercurochrome made me cringe....how well I remember the sting in an open wound! Yes, the perfect metaphor for what is happening in our society today. Our society has wounds that run deep and it seems in today's climate, the salt poured into those wounds is all too abundant. A powerful write here, E! Lydi***

LOL you'll forgive me if I don't sink my teeth into that wrap mercurochrome is almost as bitter as angst:) no amount of induced inattention can truly quelch the winds of disarray that are blowing a gale thru these times mr Einstein:( It is hard not to despair the moments we are living thru.

I think that if we were an etch-a-sketch, we would be getting shaken to oblivion any time now E, pressing the reset button and getting the white coat and clipboard boffins to fine tune the balance of living life whilst in charge of an ego. An ego, that got us to the thought we're thinking now, yet onward to destruction we march, just like the lemmings, who only jumped to get away from us pesky humans.
Really love the language of this E, mercurochrome reminds me of a long lost innocence, where pre health and safety, we could purchase such things as radium elixer and tincture of morphine.
I dont know when it happened, but find it ironic that it probably happened around the time we stopped using such words as tincture, which we are so in need of now.
Not that I'm blaming hipsters, despite everything being their fault, i could help but smile when re-reading and noticing the first few lines could indeed be a hipsters sandwich wrap order.
The prosecution rests, your honour 😀

this power-packed piece hits
with a hard punch of reality
of what s going on in our society
we are self-destructing and don't
even realize it ..how can we care
about our neighbor when we don't
even. care about ourselves..vivid
detail which points to the darksiide
of drugs and suicide ..yes it really
is a wrap...you say it well...

Nice Work!

lost teeth, lost minds, lost self....drugs in all their splendor and we hardly notice what we are doing to ourselves....it is like Mercurochrome which doesn't sting and Merthiolate..the tincture that makes us scream....the drugs seem soothing...but kill...
that which makes us flinch makes us think...malcontent leads to us going down paths that destroy us.
we try to numb ourselves to the evil around us...but in so doing, create our own.
really powerful write, E.
i like the ellipses...they are like periods of indecision...which way will the poem go? which way will we as a society go? and which way as individuals will we go?

An amazingly graphic post sir and one that gives rise to all manner of images each superimposed one upon the other … dark and filled with hurt and foreboding with more than just hints of self murder as suicide used to be called and/or deliberate overdose... there is a whole lot of drug paraphernalia referenced here.. but am also a wondering if there are one or two red herrings along the way..... Brilliantly crafted poetry to tempt and tease the reader... Top marks from this here Brit :)))

It's a wrap, the title made me think of the darkness of illegal drugs and the damage they inflict. Then I focused on your posted image which was equally disturbing. Salt into open wounds, grass blade paper cuts on fingers, so painful. Yes there is an air of death, destruction and pain here. Not just on the circumstances of the deceased, but also how it spreads into the lives of others such as family and friends. I felt the suffering of so many here. Left me thinking and questioning the choices some people make. I have known many young people who made unwise choices and ended up paying the ultimate price. Not bad people, ones who were weak and made unwise choices. I like to think they have found freedom, escaped the prison cell of their broken bodies and minds and dance now in the spirit world cleansed of their addictions. Look where you took me Mr E.
