AT YOUR PENCIL SKY

AT YOUR PENCIL SKY

A Poem by Sir Robert Robbie Lord Dudley

so what' s the matter with you

you know you can do it

just go through it

it's up to you to erase

the frown on your face

won't interfere with me

at your pencil sky

alone inside your wall of bricks

like as pressing a button on and off

it clicks at your heart's lonely core

it's pain you endured

building broken feelings

won't interfere with me

at your pencil sky

one can see your need to be

taken from beyond the shades

warmer feelings were misplaced

forgotten when these bricks were placed

to hide away from it all

won't interfere with me

at your pencil sky

i am your door to another place

to other days beyond the walls

you know that you must face

forget about it this lonely pain push it

it's O.K. if you're on or off now and then

won't interfere with me

at your pencil sky

you can't tell which is which

take a look i took a look

the birds all sound so happy

the crickets all sound so musical

by and by one dash all you will see

won't interfere with me

at your pencil sky

so what's the matter with you

you know you can do it

but you must go through it

it's up to you to erase

the frown on your face

won't interfere with me

at your pencil sky
