Perfect Moments In Time

Perfect Moments In Time

A Poem by Rodney Ray Hatchell / Unheardsong

         Perfect Moments In Time

Early in the morning before sunrise.
I hear Momma talking to God asking
him to guide her in all she has to do.
The scent of smoke fills the house to
ready the room with warmth for us kids
To dress for school.
As momma stands next to the old wood
stove heating first up her front side then
her backside.
Then she pulls up her overalls over her
frock then proclaim the cow needs milking.
She puts on her bonnet and pick up her
milk pale then she heads out the door to
meet the early morning cold.
The bold wind blows up her sleeves .
Old dog tales waging ,cat meowing as the
leaves blow across the yard.
Momma never complaining about the
hard life she has to live.
Always finding  some joy in life to laugh
about to be amused over.
Momma cats waiting  eagerly for some
warm milk  Mom squeezes some milk
in  the direction of the cat with a perfect shot
into a waiting mouth .
Momma just blushes and leans back  and
giggle for a bit.
That's how life is lived way down south
when  you have a mom such as mine.
These perfect moment in time I’ll  carry
throughout my life .
Lord if I every need a pick me up or any of
my family and friends  .
I’ll bring out one of these perfect  moments
in time .
