The Blood Paintings

The Blood Paintings

A Poem by Davi Rodrigues
"

I don't know where this came from. It's the first thing I can finish in days.

"
Last night another man was killed
The rumor has been spread
Report to town authorities
That blood was once more shed

The victim lay before his house
The door used to be white
But when they found the poor dead man
Deep red was all in sight

It was the second man this week
The seventh just in June
And on their face a common mark
Which looks like an old rune

Another similarity
Between the corpses all
Is that they lay not on their blood
It was sprayed on the wall

And every victim, young and old
And poor and well-endowed
Encountered death when in a place
As white as merry cloud

This killer seems to have a taste
For using blood as ink
On compositions using reds
From deep maroon to pink

The reason, people say, is wrath
Well, I say it is fun
For "paint the town red" I have heard
And that's what I have done

I really liked it ((: very different than a lot of poetry that's out there ! I loved the line "This killer seems to have a taste
For using blood as ink"

Loved this poem, I enjoy poetry with a story behind it, just like this piece. "paint the town red" a very clever line to use with such a dark twist, brilliant.
