Alma mater

Alma mater

A Poem by Rohit Kumar

As I preach reunion with my alma mater,

Silently I yearn beneath the darkness of the underwater.

For they shall not hear my abandoned sigh,

I walk across the crowd with my chin held high.

For I don’t care if they see the tears behind my vision,

All the unspoken words left to yell isn’t my mission.

The silence I sustain wishes to roar and surround,

Therefore I turned mute and twisted around.

And in my head only I allowed myself to shout,

In my pillow I burrowed my face to hide it out.

Finally I yell my every silent sorrow,

Keeping faith on a better tomorrow.

Screaming for someone to hear,

Wishing for someone to save me as I felt the end is near!
