Trapped

Trapped

A Poem by Sylvia Faff

Trapped between realities
I lay dormant
I lay waiting for prophecies
Of love and pain
That would one day take me
 Never to refrain

Trapped between two worlds
Between four dark pulsating walls
And a bottomless ceiling
I see a voice
That brings greater feeling
So loving soothing and full of poise

Trapped between two worlds
In an icy prison
Where the silk walls stain red
And the fabric blows in the wind
ever changing

Trapped in purgatory
Between two hells
Nothing in my life is real
It's just one big forgery

I have worn more masks
Than lines in a book of broken sonnets
Every line held each more strongly
Now I dip into a bottomless flask
And let it all flow,
willingly

All of it....
It was never true
Never constant
Skew after skew
Draw and re-drew

But i lay here on the edge
My emotions uncontrollable
never tame
Waiting to jump
And to cease all this pain

It never mattered
Yesterday, today, tomorrow
And what never followed
You were never mine
And it fills me with feelings of gore
It feels like my insides turn to brine

Never to come back
Never to feel again
But it's ok
We wont ever be together
And my name will brush off
Like a gust of wind
I didn't matter.

Cover you eyes
Clench your fist
Forget about everything
Flooded with mist
Hold your breath
Feel the cold
The anger in your blood
The boil of your soul

This is a really winner, its dark but it has a depth to it. Not just dark for the sake of being dark. Flows nice and is a pleasure to read. Wonderful work!

I especially like the depth of this work, the description of feeling in the abstract and the subtle suggestions. Very nicely done.

Yet another great poem from you my friend. How you come up with this I will never know you seem to have the same creative spark within you that all great writers have. Its true that society is trapped between two worlds, but with this poem it is almost as if you have two people etched within, two figures standing side by side each taking their mark from the author. But what the reader doesnt know is that it all came from one person, you. Keep Writing.

Loved it. I really concentrated hard, and I believe this is one of those poems which after you've finished reading it, you will try to condense it and tell yourself if you've really understood it at all.

Great!

"The anger in your blood/ The boil of your soul"

Absolute genius. Everyone goes through times where they feel trapped. This poem, like your others, evokes strong emotion and relates the reader to modern issues. Very well written!
