Within me...

Within me...

A Poem by Sachi Ruaya
"

I hate you. You're my Monday, You're my Brussel sprout" You're my doomsday"

"

Within me…

“I hate…”

Wherever I go, she is there, lurking in the shadows

Swimming in my raging blood,

Mocking my tormented mind,

Drippin' blood onto my tongue,

She makes me rage

As cold sweat on the stony pores fall;

Drip...Drop...

Whiffs of saltwater reach my tongue

She makes me forget why I loved

Hostile. A warlike manner.

Send shivers down my spine;

And scratches of vexation

A 'stray' beast, whose home is my consciousness,

In a cage of other so-called sensations

Emotions. I loathe against.

And so, she sometimes breaks out!

Yes, she is everywhere

Because she is within me...within us

A person within me, laughing at my hatred

As I act from her influence. It's uncontrollable.

I see others like me, a woman within

She is within everyone

Faces with its s'cilium arches angling

Mouths speak of sleaze, discrimination, profanity

Catastrophic Disorder.

The sensation to hate, we'll express it

We react to each representation of hate

Spitting out our uncaged woman. The beast!

Already a blasphemy!

Our noses are filled with gunpowder and smoke

Coughing out the disease-like beast

We spread hate like rats!

But then again, it's engraved within us after all...

It's hate. It's her. It's our nature to hate

Without it? We ain't individuals

Without it, how can we ever be the fellow humans we are today?

So, when I forget, forgive and accept

When I lead her back to her cage

When I meditate next to a calming lake

I'll remember why I loved

So, when we forget, forgive and accept

When we blow our noses, and clear the gunpowder and smoke

When we decide to care for the beast-sick

We'll be left with ruins

After she hides, we are left with our loathsome, monstrous aftermath

After exhaustion, we are left with regret that will haunt us like spirits

After, we will be left with dents, scars and trauma

But, after all. It's within us.

Just sayin' She = Hate.

No fancy fonts as for today :) Seriously, it's just been New Years...
Hehe...this was fun to write...but I could do better . I think I rushed it a bit and haven't bothered editin' it (Hey! Gimme a break! It's a New Year!)

Anyways, I hope you enjoy!

P.S. I actually like Brussel sprouts. They're yum! Um...just keep that a secret. K?

The best poem i've read this year! ;D
I really like the line "when we lead her back to her cage" it really gets on the point that even though we may not be aware of the hate we are spreading it is still our fault in the end.
Thanks. This was a good read =)

Our sentiments have genders? On the otherhand hate and love are two sides of the same coin are not they? I hope you portray lady love with the same intensity as you did her wicked sister, the hate!- All the best.

good writing for sure sorry that this venom and hate is portrayed as a woman kind of a downer to read at 12 19 am but you did succeed in writing something cruelly and at the same time with great skill.

But the "she" is a beast. So, I'll just change "woman" to it.
