A Poem by Ruby Moon

A language I half remember.

Pushes and pulls… one and the same

Howls half demented,

Attention, demanded.

Attention given

Opening the sliding doors and stepping out

Feeling the wind tugging at me, trying to read its moods

But it’s a language lost to me,

I am no longer the same girl I was 20 years ago

A memory stirs, but it does not have the same effect on me any longer…

I sit patient, trying to understand

But I don’t. Eventually it dies and passes

And I close the chapter and goes back into my safe haven.

Now here I sit,

With the urge to write,

About what once was

…but is no longer.
