Contagion

Contagion

A Poem by rudelizard
"

"Contagion is simply a false belief - not a law that governs your health or well-being" - unknown

"
I’m praying for a shield

To endure this relapse,

Entrenched in the fight

Against a malignant grasp,

Woeful pleas drift

Amidst the toxic plumes,

Ill-conceived in their attempt

To repeal the consumed,

Hope is the prime target

Maimed from the soul,

Budding deep in my sternum

Lays the pestilent mold,

A microscopic paradox

Impulsively feeds,

When anemic self-control

Yields to disease,

In perpetual unrest

Sifting ash from my bones,

Cauterize the remains

Until they harden to stone,

I vow to no longer

Play host to the strain,

Lord, exhume the contagion

Or shall I bewilder in pain,
