Ghosts of the Soul

Ghosts of the Soul

A Poem by Bewitching Sensations
"

Look inside what do you find?

"

We each have a small child

A happy or shattered history

Deep deep within our soul

Stop running, time to defy

Its time to face stark reality

Ghosts, ripping at your spirit

Voices harrowing the mind

That song, smell or ambience

How can you be at your best?

When you are fighting within

Memories, its time to let go

Stop blaming yourself, it’s been

No matter what wall you erect

How well you embellish the outer

Inside the torment spasms

Let’s fight the demon that’s inner.

The roar of the old lion

You find he can’t masticate

His roar is much bigger

The bite not much fate

Great positive poem though have no idea what the last part means. I thought the power of the opening stanza lines 'How can you be at your best?' 'No matter what wall you erect' really carry an important message. And, yes, I do feel there is something inside wanting to come reveal itself.

Thankyou so much Richard x
Yes, there is so much we hide within... the hauntings that we carry with us each day... Your words give us a hope that we can find peace and move into the days ahead with courage.

Thankyou for your touching words Craig :)
like 'it's been' and the way the road is faced down. There's just great truth in what you say. But we forget and the fears get a hold of us and sometimes they are all we have, fear upon fear, and then we are crippled. So we have to face them down, just as you say.

yes so true as always Ron :) I think i have faced most of them now.. so all is well x
I really like this poem- it's beautiful the way it flows and the words and concepts you convey are so true. "How can you be at your best? Why you are fighting within. Memories, its time to let go. Stop blaming yourself, it's been". We can't move on without holding a bit of the past within us, but we cannot live in the past. Great write, and thank you for sharing!!! :)

P.S. However, I must confess. Like Gary, I don't really understand how the last stanza relates to the rest of the poem.

Its all about facing our fears and over coming in life.. face the lions roar.. often its not as bad .. read more
My demons fled long long ago.....vanquished in the folds of a distant time, left on another deserted beach, languishing curled up in its own anger and final despair, setting me free of those foolish emotions, to be able to write without any excuse..........I liked this poem........and thank you for reading a long dead one of mine... :O)
