We'll Call Our Stumbles Steps

We'll Call Our Stumbles Steps

A Poem by Zach Colgate
"

These are the lyrics to my most recent song.

"

Take off your makeup

and all of your fancy things.

I want to see you --

only you.

The world is so ugly,

so why are you holding on?

It will decieve you

and break you down.

You ain't perfect, babe,

hell,

neither am I.

Its alright.

Its alright.

Its alright.

We all have our ways

of hidin' our pain,

but its time to let it go.

Let it show.

Take it slow.

If we're all afraid

of bein' ourselves,

then who the hell

are we miming?

We stagger and stumble,

and stop

to see who is watching

Every trip and fall --

we'll

redefine them all

as

dancin'.

Dance with me, girl . . .
