The Rainbow

The Rainbow

A Poem by Sally Edwards
"

A thank you poem to a friend

"

Thank you for the gift of a rainbow

At at time when my life was low

It was cold and grey and dull

I had let it get into a lull

But then you burst on the scene

And said it's ok to have a dream

You took your palete of colours

And said have faith in others

You make it clear to see

There is so much I could be

You took the grey and blue

And changed them for a better hue

You gave me rose tinted glasses

And greens the colour of grasses

My world has been painted

That had for so long been tainted

Golden sun till noon

followed later by a silver moon

these are the colours you made me see

So I thank you again for the wonderful gift

It has brought me such joy and lift

Thank you for banishing strife

And giving me back a colourful life

I really liked it! Who knew colors were all around... and that they could make such poems like this one? Very creative. Your imagery is just great. I can see every single thing you're descibing here. A thank you poem ehh? Well done, that friend sure is lucky. I love the fact that it rhymes. Not everyone can do that. Still having trouble with the word orange. Overall, I loved this poem!

a criticism that i might have is that if you are going to try and recapitulate a rainbow with colored text, i think it may be better suited to follow the pattern of the rainbow and try to capture each of its colors with an appropriate stanza...let each color influence that particular piece in the writing (just thoughts...not trying to demean the writing that you have here, because it is very special)

this would be a wonderul piece to submit into a journal of poetry for children, its very inspiring and playful, innocent, yet deep.

it feels like this rainbow was the perfect perscription to a bad bad flu that was going around

we could all use a little rainbow in our life. its great to capture those moments in life that are just naturally and purely inspiring

this flowed really well...its been awhile since i've read something that i didn't have to go back to decipher what someone was trying to say, you nailed it

I really loved the colours and I thought it read really well. The way you thought about the rhymes is so clever. And such a nice thought. xx

No worries about the puncuation and such, I know what you're trying to say here

Anyway, it's really good and I enjoyed how you used the fonts in different colors like that...
