What a strong message. A lot of times we want encouragement from others, but when we fail we feel like we let them down (or at least I do.) When someone tells me I can't do it, or I'm not good enough, I try harder to do it. Just to prove them wrong and shove it in their face.

exactly! I have a high need for achievement, so I won't do things that I consider to be impossible to achieve.. but if someone else tells me that I can't do something I have to do it.

Yeah man, I totally get that. Sometimes support is very needed, other times it's more motivating to be told you "can't" so you can prove you WILL.

I like the structure in this piece 3/1/3/1/3. I also like the repetition of this as that's one true quality of free verse poetry. As I can relate because that the poetry I write. I like the subject as a reader because I am the same way, I might not want to do something but as soon as someone says I cant, now I want to and I give it my best.
