ORANGE

ORANGE

A Poem by Salvatore Buttaci

unrhymable,
citric to the taste,
fiery in sundown,
hued between
yellow and red,
October’s faltering breaths
exhaled against
the dying leaves.

The heat at the beginning and coldness at the end round out the poem in a beautiful and graceful way. You have the eloquence of a tentative swan, sir.

Great descriptions! The last three lines were my favorites in this. They expressed your intent very well.
