Lover’s Lane                      by Sami Khalil

Throw caution to the wind,

set at full speed,

along lover’s lane,

when excitement mounts,

over the dying affection.

Of the joys, languishing

between the discerning eyes,

the startling coronation,

the glowing adoration,

the seasons of sunbeams

dance in twisting softness.

Your grandeur…

lingering in beauty,

color my blushing hues,

my adoration.

I can never be still,

for the briefest moments,

for the essence

of wordless conversation.

Your sight is being

stored away in keepsakes

of fairy tales,

the tidal waves

of captive hearts,

the lambent light

betrothed to star-kissed skies,

the nosegays of vaporous dreams,

in earnest ties to butterfly kisses,

sepals and petals alike.

Well, this takes me back to Briggs street in Lockport...
now a main highway, back then a gravel, dead end road.
cars lined up...everyone necking in the back seat...or the really daring, in the front seat.
radio blasting those tunes from the sixties to feel young love by.
thanks for the road trip back, Sami....I wish they never would have paved that street.

Wowzy! Thank you so much dear poet for this lovely review and visit. See you soon.
King Sami we never forget those lovers lane places, they become ingrained and looking back seems not that long ago especially if we didn't know the time plus the gap between young and being older is not as long as we think. Descriptive fine writing as per your norm.

Wowzy! MUCH appreciated dear poet and friend. Will see you soon.
We have a Lover's Lane of sorts here called "Lookout Hill". I've often wondered if the name referred to all the parking couples who come to watch the city lights and stay to steam up the windows but have to be on the "lookout" for parents and cops. (smile) Your descriptions here are great. I particularly enjoyed, " the tidal waves of captive hearts". Great line! I enjoyed reading. F.
