A modern English sonnet…

It was the morning of momentous waves

Frenzied thoughts gathered in the scented hours

From a radiant sky to vigilant graves

I swung on drowsy swings and high towers.

 

Same old familiar ‘hikers’ trekked the slopes

Denying the escapes of varied joys

Seas roaring and mountains tumbling of hopes

Chasing golden sunbeams and roving ploys.

 

I labored in my garden for lone blooms

Migrating away from guilty parties

Speaking essential peace, sans of more dooms

Benign humdrums, touching hearts at ease.

 

It was the morning of strawberry dawn

Eager love seemed a resplendent icon.

now here is where i can use my "sigh". i'll take a dawn such as this any day of the week. a regular grocery staple for me. used to pick them too. thanks for the sweet trip back as i wipe the jam from my big mouth. keep spreadin' it sami ... :)
