Better than Me

Better than Me

A Poem by meek
"

I wish I didn't have an older brother.

"
it's always been,
since I've been born.
You're better than me.

In sports, in school,
in existing in life,
You're simply better than me.

You have more friends,
you live free and light,
You do things, have something to live for.

And though I try to go on,
it's a little hard.
A small dot in your enormous shadow.

Because sometimes,
I want it to stop.
Sometimes, I need it to end.
These shoes are too big to fill,
and I'm falling,
slipping.

Someday I'll wake up,
and you'll be away.
Probably travelling the world.
Becoming famous.
Meeting the love of your life.
Growing and charming the world.

And then maybe,
it will be better.
Maybe I'll be better than you.

Lost in a big shadow huh? You conveyed the whole "he just does everything right and here I am hardly being noticed...." very well.... A lesson in family dynamics!

As a side.... I have a big sister....who did everything right... or so the teachers said .... until I was just as smart, but funnier than she could ever be.... you'll find your niche baby girl....
