flight

flight

A Poem by Sam Summers

and as the last of the ocean foam collapsed
the whale emerged headfirst from the sea
staring decisively into the sun
it pushed its mass toward the sky
defiant

and we became its shadow

in its wake came the fish and the dolphins and crabs
unnoticed

Much like the elephant in the room so doth the whale eclipse the creatures of the sea.

The whale is a majestic and amazing site to see. Hunting has surely made us a shadow of sorts. I don't know if that's what you were going for here, but that's what came to mind.
