dear heart

dear heart

A Poem by Samantha Tamburello

Dear heart,

I am terribly sorry to disclose

that grief will drown you head to toes,

that you will try to hide who you are

for people would kill you, near or far.

who you love will lose you friends,

your family will disapprove to no end.

you’ll tape up mirrors to ignore

the person inside, lonely and poor.

you’ll give up hope because you’ll believe

nobody could love you and never leave.

you’ll hide your identity even from yourself

destroying your physical and mental health.

I’m sorry heart, the journey will suck

but if you hold on tight it might be enough.
