I Try

I Try

A Poem by Sandra Rains DeBusk
"

Hidden Love, fear of showing someone you love them for fear of rejection.

"

Laying here beside you
studying your face
while your sleeping
all emotions in place

You'll never know
how much I love you
because I can't tell you
my hearts truth

I'm afraid of rejection
My fear is strong inside
I pretend I don't care
My love I try to hide

It should be so easy
to let go of my fears
after all this time together
after all the years

and I try
I truly try

You move slightly
snuggling against me
I close my eyes
acting like I'm asleep

I don't want you to catch me
staring at you
That would be a dead give away
It would show my hearts truth

And I try
I truly try

I can understand. I've been there.
Kept my feelings bottled up within me for I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do justice to the relationship.
Finally, one day the bottle did explode. The explosion brought with it the best time of my life. That did not last, unfortunately.
But looking back I don't regret expressing myself. It gave me so many good memories. How many people have that kind of luck..?

Your poem took me back to those times.

It is very difficult to keep one's feelings hidden forever. Sometimes it is necessary to do that. But mostly fear does get the better of us.

Great write. I enjoyed it very much.
