why does this happen always

A Story by Sarah Wolf

i cant see you through the fog that you oh so carefully hid in the midst of, yet you call me a coward, you're sick.

you told me about the universe like you had it drawn on the back of your hands
you explained to me situations which you didn't even take part in
you taught me that even in the most elegant, bright lights there was darkness
i don't know whether to thank you, or hate you
although im incapable of hate
so i take my gentle hands and feeble fingers and knit together a new friendship
i say sorry for things i havent done
you whisper eternity into my ears
im happy for what seems like seconds
you leave again
but blame it on i
im sorry again.
