From a Caged bird to the Common Folks

From a Caged bird to the Common Folks

A Poem by Saumya

To the freebird that wants to fly,
Let her fly.
To the freebird that yearns to soar high,
Let her heart forever pump delight,
To the freebird that aims high,
Let her sobs reach no height,
To the freebird that often asks 'why?'
Let her world be full of soothing surprise,
To the freebird that always simplifies,
Never, never, doubt her why's.
To the freebird, that will never be your type,
Know, perceive that she's unique,
and the best of her type!
To the freebird, who's only need is her flight,
Her fluttering feathers, her skies,
Don't limit, don't judge,
Don't argue, and do not deprive,
Just let her fly
High and high
High and high
To the infinite,
Unending heights.
....as that's what will only set you both alright!

I agree dear Saumya. My grandmother allowed to run wild.
"Don't argue, and do not deprive,
Just let her fly
High and high
High and high
To the infinite,
Unending heights."
Now I do the same for my grandchildren. I loved the above lines. Children need to run wild into the forest and the parks. Dance with the lakes and know laughter. Thank you dear poet for sharing the outstanding poetry.

I like your free spirit and it can never be caged... the mind always expands from the mundane world around, if there any spark or vitality in a person's essence...

Feel free, be free... fly high

Reading this poem felt like a beautiful declaration of freedom. It drew a profound energy from the connection to nature. Even though it is inspirational and full of hope...it takes to task a society and culture that has ingrained itself with inequity. The words remind us of all about what never came to pass because of a lack of opportunity. They also warn us about the better future and world that we are selling ourselves short of. Your pen seeks justice in the most elegant way.

I haven't seen anything new posted by you here at the cafe in a long time! I'm glad I caught this in my newsfeed, to remind me to go look & see what you've been posting! This poem is the exact balm I crave as I live my life completely differently than most people. One of my main reasons for being a loner is becuz I'm sick of people trying to change me or yapping at me for whatever ways I'm not acting like they think I should act. Right now, I'm NOT evacuating (there's a mandatory evacuation notice where I live becuz of fire) & everyone is howling their disapproval over that. That's becuz the fires they know are the ones they watch on the news. That is not my fire. My fire is tame & it's going to be conquered by the firefighters within days, so I'm not going to disrupt my life & go live with someone who spends every waking minute bitching about life & everything bad that's happening (which is all anyone talks about anymore). Instead, I'm enjoying how utterly quiet the wilderness is becuz there are NO PEOPLE for miles & miles. This stillness is such a gift, I don't really care if I burn up & die. I'm just in ecstasy being in a place that's just got the simple rhythms of nature as the background music. Now back to your poem . . . you use strong fitting examples to show how this feels & it makes me wonder if you sometimes feel your free spirit is crowded (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Stay safe, freebird, stay safe... remember the phoenix...
Powerful write! Reads smooth and brings out all caged emotions to the fore.
Beautiful thoughts, simple yet an engaging read.

I liked these lines were particularly,
"To the freebird, that will never be your type,
Know, perceive that she's unique,
and the best of her type!"

As they say, once you set a flight, there's no holding back - Sky is the limit.
More power to the Freebird=The Woman/Girl child !
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Abhilash!
Glad you liked the poem 😊
Hi Saumya. Welcome back my dear friend. Wonderful to see you posting on the cafe again.
My compliments on this beautiful poem. I'm a simple kitty that thinks simply so my title would be - 'Freebird Fly High' or Freebird Go Fly'
Reading your poem made my mind wander towards stifling relationships and that again made me think marriages. I can never live as per a husbands or inlaws wishes and fancies. Seen so many friends in my college days now living like birds in cages. Thats why this kitty is never getting married. I'll surround myself with ppl who love and encourage me freely always and I am only going to fly and fly and fly.
Keep writing more such motivational stuff. I love it.

Oh yessss! And who better than a dear old friend to know that! I hope you've been well dear Jibey!
So many are held down by others, and there is probably no limit to the great things they can do.
After a long enough time of being suppressed some might give up...but for those who break the chains and spread their wings, Bravo.
There is that saying "if you love something let it go, and it will fly back to you..."
but if you don't let it fly...it will resent...and there will be no more time spent with you.
We need to encourage, not discourage.
this is powerful.
