A Story by Sav

We looked at each other and the growing space in between our shoes. Our mouths opened simultaneously and we both spoke the phrase, "I love you." We smiled; I add the word 'too' and you said 'also'. We're clumsy with our goodbyes. We kissed once and then once more and told each other that we'd be missed. I watched you leave, turn your back and pace away, as the tears doubled in my eyes and began to fall. Each goodbye becomes more difficult than the last, yet they keep showing up. Though, before every farewell there was a hello, and after each departure, a return. And there will never be enough time in the world, but if there were, I would speak goodbyes to you forever.
