Sad Robot

Sad Robot

A Poem by Sarah J Dhue

People think I don't have
feelings, all because I am a machine
That isn't true, I tell you
It is a common misconception
I am happy when
the sun shines down on my skin
I am angry when
I see a man strike a woman
But most of all
I am sad when
people tell me I cannot feel
I can hear and see
taste and smell
So why, do tell
is it so inconceivable
that I could feel?
My sight is based on
optics software
My hearing on microphones
My smell on nasal receptors
and my taste on microbuds
within my mouth
So while it may be true
that it is based on wiring
My feelings are real
Wires and veins all weave the same
