Christmas Wish

Christmas Wish

A Poem by Scott Eckert
"

Christmas poem

"

In the dark winter blue sky, a crescent moon and companion, a single star

Holiday warmth, home cooked meal, river of Christmas presents, and a cheerful bar

Christmas tree’s glistening decorations, sparkling garland, and matching bows

Santa, while I am writing my list, there have been many wishes for things, long-ago

Glancing at the childhood memory of wanting a racing fast cherry red Lamborghini

Or maybe a super model, from Beverly Hills, in a hot pink designer g-string bikini

However, many of past wishes would have turned to gold if they came true

As of recent, these wishes have transformed to coal, making things so blue

Therefore, there is no need to fill this large caldron with the coal, anymore

Fiery passion still burning with enormous flames, even with the slamming doors

Relatives and pets have left to follow a gracious light to a higher place

Then, realizing this is not a Nascar race, but a journey of a beautiful space

Therefore, for my Christmas wish, the best things would be happiness and inner peace

One more thing, hoping everyone is close for the holidays and has a joyous feast.

I like this piece. Goes from the innocence of childhood, adolescence, adulthood and, finally, real maturity. Bravo.

Holidays always bring out the most positive and negative emotions. This piece nails that right on the head. Thank you for sharing.
