Awake Last Night

Awake Last Night

A Poem by Scott A. Williams
"

On paranoia, stress, sanity and growth.

"

Last night I awoke from fever dream,

obsessed with how things aren’t often how they seem.

My skin drenched with sweat, my mind with disease,
I feel I know something but the world disagrees.

We’re all walking around with clouds overhead
‘till the day they fall to our rocky bed.
Eyes cast high, it’s hard to believe what’s been said,
so I got down on my knees, and with the big man I pled.

Your good behavior will not save you,
for now you must be brave, you
have your karma, it won’t betray you,
so just listen as I say “You
can’t assume to be all-knowing,
for your world is always going
to be spinning, overthrowing

eras, but your souls are growing.”

And to this I can attest,
while my heart is immature,
it’s still beating in my chest
and its intentions remain pure.

So I’ll walk with eyes cast high,
while the seas scrub sin from air,

I will sleep again tonight,

I will rest and never fear.

you just summed up my sleep patterns.
So I’ll walk with eyes cast high,
while the seas scrub sin from air

great line above.
