The Way People Change

The Way People Change

A Poem by Scott A. Williams
"

You never know what you're capable of.

"
You're not
"I can't,
I won't,
I'm not,
I don't,"
You don't know,
you don't know,
you don't know
what the future might hold
what stories are yet to be told
or how it might unfold.
You may think that you're certain
but I think it's strange
you can't ever predict
the way people alter themselves
and what that means
in the grand scheme of things
what corrections you might
be forced to make
what alternate routes
you'll have to take.
Nobody's perfect,
or completely clean.
What capabilities are buried down deep
nobody's sure, they lie within you asleep
and as circumstances modify
your preferred course of deed
you'll find yourself working
at a different speed.
It may take you be surprise
but let me explain,
just
watch and see
the way people change.
