Moments Not Yet When

All of my poetry for the last two months have been around a recent psychically devastating event. It's become time to move on.

Moments Not Yet When
A one room schoolhouse upon a hill
An ancient ceder at it's side
The full moon shines a clear white light
Casting shadows in the night
A quickening wind rings the bell
Random echoes through the years
Calling children in from play
But none there are to call today
No entry through the school house door
Though the window shades are not quite drawn
Like a lover's half-closed daydream eyes
Dim reflections of nostalgic skies
Peering in at the ghostly class
Those eager wisps of memories past
Watch the Teacher behind her desk
Font of wisdom statuesque
Knowing the school house room be empty
Causes shivers like an arctic storm
She sees through the window where
The present who stands to stare
She offers invitation with a tempting smile
While the spectral children turn to see
Though through eyes not really there
With whom the past their Teacher will share
Having come inside the Teacher turns
Composing with a glimmering script
Every letter an enchanted spell
That frees the soul as from a cell
This is not your time she writes
There's no need to linger still
My students all are you in here
Each one a different fear
The sun outside is rising now
Go and ring the bell
Sit beneath the ceder tree
There's much for you to see
Waking up beneath the tree
Hearing echoes of the bell
The orange sun is sinking low
It's become time now to go
By habit reaching for the book
With now a hundred poems writ
Each one a picture of the past
A history therein of pains amassed
Starting away in twilight come
Walking out from memories gloam
There are new poems now to pen
Timeless moments not yet when

Wonderful poem! Such a lovely story of an old school house. I felt like I was up on that hill under the tree. Random echoes through the years. I like that line.
