A Walk Through Darkness

A Walk Through Darkness

A Poem by seanhoag

My Skin is blazed and burned

By the fire I lit to keep warm

My mind is frozen

By the winds I blew to keep flying

My bones are crushed

By the earth I built to stand strong

Now I lie frozen burned and crushed

By the world I thought would save me

My soul begins to sing me lullabies

Ones that I used to fall asleep to

Only this time I fear that my sleep will be endless

The darkness wraps its cloak around me

As if to say, “Everything will be alright.”

So, I take shadows hand

For he knows the way through darkness

And together we stepped into the dark

With nothing else to hold onto

I hold his hand even tighter

And as he guides

I follow

I don’t know where we’re going

But I hold tighter, tighter and tighter

One step after the other

Darker, darker and darker

I like how there is a repetition of 3's going on here. It adds emphasis, in my opinion. Don't linger in the dark for too long.

Thanks. I like this one. And trust me I'm not in the dark anymore. :P
