Dear Universe

Dear Universe

A Poem by seanhoag

Dear universe

Thank you

I’m on top of the world

In the prime of my existence

My mind is overflowing with dreams

Bursting forth into the great wide world

My heart is pumping more love

Than my body knows what to do with

My spirit yearns for growth

But in every instance

Is truly and completely fulfilled

Not everyone is as lucky as me, though.

Not everyone has truly met you, universe.

Many have only seen you in your darkest moments

In times of despair

And turmoil

And loss

But you have shown me your beauty

Life is what you offer

And love is its journey

You showed me that

From the smallest microscopic organism

To the most gigantic raging starfire

Universe…

If I could ask you for just one thing

If I am worthy of that after all you’ve given me

If I am worthy

I would ask that you take it all back

Take back all that you’ve shown me

And give it to everyone else

Show them what you’ve shown me

Show them theres more to you than your darkest moments

And if all of this means I will no longer know you, my dearest universe

I shall consider myself lucky to have known you at all

This is an interesting read, for sure. The stanza that begins "universe..." I'd the heart of it, for me.

Wow. This really tugged at my heart, especially towards the end where you ask for it to be shared with everyone else. This is so beautiful.
