Ouch, why don't you tell us how you really feel Mike..........there are some people that are really in need, we need to distinguish the truly unfortunate, deserving poor from the simply lazy bums that scam the system....

Everyone sees this and their emotions come to the surface and it blinds them to pure truth. this piece doesn't play politics. when ever receive something free from the government someone else paid for usually with the threat of penalty. Our founding Fathers never intended to be a surrogate parent to the people. This act has continued to sap the will and integrity of the American people and enabled illegal aliens to also drag our nation down.

What do you propose we do with the poor and needy, turn our backs on them entirely, we just happen to be lucky enough not to be in that predicament, but you never know what tomorrow will bring.......

The true way we should be helping the indigent is locally through ourselves, families and churches. I couldn't count the number of times I've opened up my home to those in need I've met through the church. I thank you for your comments this just a cancer that feeds into the politicians lust for power.

you missing the point of this piece. all it says is that it's someone else's money. that is the truth of it. my question to you is why you believe its the government is responsible to take of the poor. where did this Idea come from?

thanks for this conversation. sometimes I get too passionate about the illegal reach of our government. when I was younger in my first marriage I accepted welfare and I saw how the little tricks they would pull on me to see that I never would get off of it. basically they kept offering my family more freebies.

Believe me I have tons of gripes about it, just not sure what the solutions are....

One thing I've learned the government never solves anything, look at social security, school system, etc. why in the world would people believe can run health care? we lose our freedoms more and more each day.

It's all we've got and has to be better than a dictatorship, I don't think there are any easy answers...it's frustrating as hell I know.

there has always been an answer The People. The private sector of this nation is what makes us great but the government who works for us has recently took a stand saying that they rule us and do not have to no longer listen to the voice of the people. this land was chosen by god as the promised land of freedom, but evil men have worked their way up like a worm embeds himself deep within the wood.

They weren't listening even before they took that stand Mike, too much power and greed rule this nation, you know that...
