Night Cold Cries...

Night Cold Cries...

A Poem by Michael G. Smith

Night cold cries…

Through motels ten inch concrete

Stone hearts, frigid feelings, sighs and silent signs

A moon bright peeks behind curtains from same ole skies

A peephole overhead, someone's watching with ominous eyes

Observing life and my own remembrance

For me...

Of the city lights

And how they're better off in the distance

Too intriguing is

How much living

Can be stuffed in and called baggage

And what few things

Can be...

Truly left behind

Poem says a lot, and has true meaning, we all carry things in life that is not easy to leave behind, its just the matter of learning how to deal with that baggage and enjoy life's struggles to get to the real purposes.

I'm glad :)
A very perceptive poem, Michael. I, too, loved your lines:

How much living
Can be stuffed in and called baggage
And what few things
Can be...
Truly left behind

Terrific poetry!

Thanks Joyce, Happy New Year.
The character in this position realizes that the most important is nature and life and not the things made by man.

A very perceptive view. Thank you.
The repertoire of life consists of heartache and heartbreak, joy and sorrow, love and hate, good and bad. All of these things become part and parcel of one’s strength, which hopefully helps create less of the sorrow, hate, and bad and more of the joy, love, and good.

There’s an old saying, “Life is about the journey not the destination.” Without the journey, we wouldn’t have the baggage; and as with all trips, you don’t head towards a specific destination without some baggage in hand.

I think life is about creating the baggage that helps us arrive at the ultimate destination, where we can drop the burdens that have accumulated on our shoulders in favor of a lighter load.
