Lantern Skies

Lantern Skies

A Poem by Michael G. Smith

Watching, the moon smiles wide
While Chinese lanterns lit night sky
And worries broke free if just for awhile
Flying high above, with their amber angels
Yet, in the end it's the gravitational pulls
Which returning to me are my daily struggles
And the lights keep drifting on
But, hope remains, still standing strong
And that man in moon subtlety winks
Or is it just another lantern's glow gone out of reach

Sigh... Lantern Skies is such a beautiful. Every holiday I go on I light a couple lanterns for my Grandfather who passed away and send them to him... I thought it was sweet, Mikey. Loved it.

Coming from you Noodlehead that means a lot.
Michael, great tension and relationship between the heavens and the "earthbound" troubles. A slight peak at optimism at the end. Superbly done.

I guess the trick is to keep reaching but keep the feet on the ground. Great write, Mike.

Thank you Pryde. That is the challenge of a happy life.
Oh, those mundane troubles - they cause the most woe. I love the sensation of those lanterns, lifting it all up and away... short, with good impact, Mike!

Thanks, watched a movie where they released chinese lanterns and felt the peacefulness of the act.
There is something in universe which keeps telling us in its unknown and beautiful way " The life we live down here is meaningless"
