Swimming against the flow

what makes you different makes you beautiful

The majority of humans simply swim with the flow; you might call them mainstream. They are quick to join the general public´s opinion, often wear the same clothes as everyone else because they are considered to be "in" and by silence, they hide themselves in controversial situations. They care about being liked by others, they strive for popularity, they do not want to be different from others and seek protection in the community. There are good and bad sides to swimming with the flow. If everybody would swim against the flow, our society would not function in a social sense. But if all were like this, we would be missing many findings and innovations which enrich and define our lives. There is not one person I know who is influential and successful for our society, who swam with the flow for a lifetime. To create something new, you have to be different. You have to swim against the current and against the opinions and judgments of the general public. This reminds me of the quote, "Everybody said: That's not possible. Then someone came along who did not know that and did it" (unknown). Influential people often do not care about the opinion of others. They have a strong belief in pursuing their goals, are ambitious, and do not let themselves be undermined by others´ comments. They do not just say what others want to hear. They do not wear what everyone wears, but rather what they like or what feels good. They don't hide in the crowd, and when faced with controversial situations, they express their opinions and stand up for others. Without all those who swim against the flow, we probably wouldn't have cars, mobile phones, or even the internet. It is the great, critical, and creative thinkers of our society who make a big difference, and it is the more inconspicuous people who ensure the cohabitation in our society.

Hello and the problem. More people following the lies than people seeking the truth. Our new world. Just cattle being led to the slaughter house.
