Enchanted In A Lady Slipper By The Pond Of Balms~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

They brought the boy to her little cabin

a secret in the thick pines

just a heartbeat outside of the world

He was very thin

very much fractured

his blue eyes

darting

everywhere

"You have to fix him." said the faun

"He was meant to do great things out there." insisted the heron

and she sighed

she said

"I don't understand why you always bring them so broken."

and the faun averted his crimson eyes

and the heron bent and unbent his long legs in agitation

The woman watched the boy from beneath her dark eyelashes

the boy stole glances of the woman

with the flowers through her hair

now and again

Days whispered through the trees

nights sang across the pond

a spherical liquid beauty

behind the cabin

where the woman went to sit every day

for hours

while the boy watched her through the rose colored curtains

One day the boy decided to trail the woman

who never spoke

the woman

who spun sparkling wool on an ivory loom in the kitchen

She curled into the bed of lady slippers

by the edge of the murmuring waters

while the boy

made himself a shadow between the tall reeds

She titled her heart face to the sun

arching rays between the branches of the tall pines

and moved her ruby lips in a whispering trill

A tiny bluebird descended with a ray of sunlight in his beak

to drink a diamond tear from the corner of her eye

a honey bee slipped from the center of a flower

to taste the sweetness at the corner of her lips

The boy

who had been fragmented

by shadows ripping through his body

by men armored in rage crashing down across his bones

and by a world that idled back

into a stance of shrugs

and "what can we do's"

this boy

was for a moment so very drenched

in the fairy tale unfolding by the edge of a pond

he forgot all that

which had gone before

but only for a moment

"How do you do that?"

he unstrung his aspect from caressing reeds

bending gently against his cheeks

like kisses from his mother

before the monster had crushed her skull

against a table

The woman glanced over her shoulder

smiled

and said

"I'm their mother."

"How can you be their mother?" frowned the boy

being just a boy for the first time

in a very long time

"They adopted me."

said the woman

and winked

And the boy looked at her

very closely

for the first time

and he noticed how her eyes

swirled with the topography of earth

seen from deep in space

how her hair

drank the sun

and how her skin was tattooed with snowflake patterns

"Why did they bring me to you."

asked the boy

"Everyone said I can't be fixed."

the woman sighed

the lady slippers around her tiny frame

shivered

and embraced her thighs

and she said very softly

as she leaned in to stroke the surface of the pond

"There's nothing to fix.  You are who you are, my dear."

The boy drew closer to the woman

who shimmered like diamonds

who breathed in air

but breathed out pearls

and he said

"But then I won't be able to do those great things I was meant to do.  Whatever they are."

The woman smiled

the boy sat beside her in the grass and flowers

"But you already are, doing them."

she smiled

and he fell into the worlds of her eyes

she touched the back of his hand

with fingers so gentle

they were like feathers;

and for the very first time

in a very long time

the boy didn't scream

at the touch of another being

there

in a forest of pines

by a pond of blue waters

where a lady

and a boy

drank sunshine

through their skin

who breathed in air

Hey selene i very much enjoyed this read those two lines above were my favourite, you created great imagery without going too over board with description as somepeople do. I imagined the whole story playing out after read the poem so i very much liked it.
I do like the way you have wrote that his fear of another humans touch is not so scary. "in a very long time
the boy didn't scream" This was good because it gives and exelent example of so many people that say they are scared or fearful of something yet they don't even understand what they are scared of. Good job!

Enchanted is this one filled with universal principals and mystical mother nature. A lesson in here we can all hear now and again. Wouldn't it be nice to meet such a person who held that much mystical power and wisdom. Excellent, excellent, excellent.

{this is just beautiful Selene-like a perfect fable of all fairy tales-it did truly
captivate and carry me away like the whispering images that you skillfully
penned so well--really i will save this and read it over and over--so dreamy}

"he touched the back of his hand
