~decanting heart~

Sad carapace

I am peeling you off

Following

Soft shell crabs

Into the joyous sea!

~in mythology Peneus turned Daphne into a laurel tree to save her from the amorous appetites of Apollo~dreaming through myth here the heart of the dillema is the same though my girl has chosen to be fluid waters in which to own her fate~
I have my moments~I don't even understand how they happen~ how the poem above births itself from my rereading the tale of Daphne~ now I'm over explaining which I never do~ so off for a latte~ and good morning~ =)~

don't leave, i want to watch you sip your cup...oh my, look what's happening to you...i've never seen the like...i knew we shouldn't have come to the shore this morning...oh, how am i going to explain this...she's disappeared into the sea...i only wanted to touch...oh my, oh my...why did she have to go

Lovely metaphor, and quite an inventive way to go on her own terms.

I think the poem is beautiful without explanation. Who among us has not wanted to shed the outer carapace, and flee to the birth-waters for a renewal of spirit?

Lovely poem...who doesn't want to shed our hard protective shell...be who we are inside...interesting that it's necessary to shed their shell so they can grow...as we all must...and it's something we must do again and again to be what we must be as much as we wish we could hide behind our chain mail...how we wish our soul could run naked through the fields but, though tempted, we hold ourselves back and let the protective shell hide us again...
You are one of my favorites...always

Most of your poems are really elaborate, It's interesting to see how you bring the same quality to such a short poem. Luvv!

Ah good morning Selene, over explaining or not, it's a deep poem. Everyone wants to change, and be something more than what we are. We just need to go back to basics and peel away all the "cover-ups" and just be who we really are.

Sometimes who we really are is hard to explain.

with Love,

Jaidyn

This is the shortest poem I've seen from you. I appreciate the depth within the brevity. I also love water so I can imagine becoming one with it.

Only fifteen words, and such beauty.... sigh never ever doubt why you are here, sweet friend... you are a gift to us that we as a humanity have never earned...
