Girl Who Stripped Skin From UnFairy Tales~

Girl Who Stripped Skin From UnFairy Tales~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole
"

~twisting fairy tales~

"

She tripped between the words

the turning pages hissed

the consonants ripped

she fell into the arbor

of her gown of beads and pearls

tears streaming

her nails on the stone ground

screaming

blood calligraphy in rivulets

she, pleading

“don’t write me like this!”

Perrault paused

his pen weaving

eyes gleaming

ink in the story

mad man in dark glory

writing her a sire

chained by odd desires

a mother in the ground

covered with daisies

maidens  praying

knees in mud

Perrault overplaying

his hand

the fairy godmother

drew a plan

princess asked the king for virtue

he painted her skin gown

in lavender, in skye blues

daughter asked her sire for mercy

but he broke the moon in twain

and laid her out for burning

she asked him for reprieve

but he poured the sun

out on her mystique

and then she begged  him for the skin

of the animal, his sin

and he covered her in paints

Perrault’s fingers nimble

pressing deep her tale

into the parchment

torn with pain

while she in donkey skin

and silks

bound by blood

came undone

there beneath the canopy

where poets dream insanity

she reached between the paper

and

grabbed the writer’s wrists

and bent

bent him deep into her story

stripping him of mind

of glory

rushed her soul

up

and above

to the side

and through his gloves

buried herself in the veins

while pressing his last pained refrain

into the ink

the pages marred

the princess poured the ink

in drips

pressed the quill

against his story

wrapping him in donkey skin

the girl, she flipped

the writers sin

adjusted every golden link

unbound of adjectives and nouns

she coaxed the action verbs to ground

and ground she did

while Perrault screamed

trapped in his own bloody dream

And I tottered on the edge of seat

a little girl at old crone’s feet

she spoke but once, then

after that

“do you, my child, then comprehend?

The moral and the lesson here?”

I nodded, whispered

“Yes I hear”

and in the pleats of ruby cape

the dagger in my hand regained

its sweet intent

now clear and bold

I knew then

there

the stories told

were guideposts toward absolution

and I gave the loom my resolution

spun my blood drops through the quilt

rose

unwound

my hand on hilt

of blade

and story

writer’s  oath

I stepped out of the donkey skin

into the cradle of the boat

weaving princess out of shackles

into girl with sword for brambles

drowning Perraults  in a barrel;

unbind This Book

at your own peril

awe but for not the poets been the sorrows life ne'er re-begin! Indeed it needed dismembering, a ghastly tale and no less demeaning since it oft is foisted off on the innocence of children.

Most enthralling to me was the fashion in which the outside was turned inside and the prey became the carnivore, delightful reversal of the roles and mayhap deep in the shadows of Perrault's twisted psyche he was really looking in the mirror and saw what you have here unveiled in such masterfully delightful fun and "pompeux!"

"guideposts toward absolution indeed!!!"

Whew! I got lost in it where the original faded into the princess stepping out and grabbing Perrault! Sometimes it feels as if the characters we write do just that. But in this case she had to stand up. Disturbing is right. Marrying his daughter? Thank god she escaped by becoming ugly donky skin and finding a prince. All she had to do was wear some ugly animal skin to escape his advances. (i'm being facetious, of course) Yours is a story of abuse standing up and turning on the abuser. Wonderfully written.

The idea of looking into this twisted story from the character's point of view is genius. You make the victims victorious, Viktoria! ; )

I do not blame her for Perrault's timely demise, the author was mad!

stunning retelling - or "dismembering" of the story, I always found it the oddest and strangest fairy tale - stealing away in a donkeyskin hide - lovely fairy tale haha you've matched the tale, and perhaps exceeded it! the descriptions are brilliant - capturing the shades of the dresses - the sun and moon all poured out!! twisting the story here and there - and unrelenting in the tale - the rhyme that kicked in towards the middle just drags you along (willingly ha) - nice!!

Breathtakingly beautiful writing. I saw it posted on the Site That Shall Not Be Named and commented that the Site is definitely poorer without you.
