Wild Things~

Wild Things~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

from some of us

they are desperate to extract the wild

to suck the stories from under our tongue

sugarglaze our wounds

bandage the weeping captivation of a midnight audience

for we bleed better than any other

us wild orbits

who hide the wolf in the aorta

and the scream of a horse over a canyon wall

under the paper thin exuberance of a rib

and the forest

yes

the forest of a thousand grimm tails

are baked in every roll

filled with the jam we stole from the witch’s windowsill

and secreted away inside the dreams of Briar Rose;

wild things are hidden

every where

and they

are

beautiful

don’t anyone

ever

tell you elsewise

You know, when I first started reading your writings I tried to approach your poetry from a critical point of view. I learned immediately that was impossible. You involve all the senses, but especially the human heart. Your ability to draw an emotional response to words, and how they are placed and treated, is unmatched. I've read a lot of classics, a lot of beat and modern poetry, and you, you Selene Skye, stand on your own as the most unique voice to reinterpret not just what poetry is, but what language is an how we relate to it.
One day, I have no doubt, you will be an icon. To many of us, you already are.
You speak to the wild nature in all of us, you speak to our origins, and reawaken something essential to our components as human beings. Like Lily said, you are magic.

Yes you are magic. You are magic because you make it not a crime to steal that jam, find a tree to sit under, and dip our fingers into it.

I am intrigued by the soft, almost maternal quality of this poem, which is something you wouldn't automatically associate with wildness. Beautifully done, empowering to the reader to find what is sacred and untamed within. Sensitive without being sentimental.

Wolf in the aorta is a great line. Wolves are intense and the epitome of instinct. Imagine one laying in you heart. Strong heart. Instinctual heart. Intense uncontrolled.

Reese has spoken (review before mine) and I adore the man's viewpoint in looking at you. You indeed are a gem. Which gem at what instant you will always decide. I have always been in total fascination with your writing.

I'm pretty sure most of the wild things are located on another web site these days....lol. As I read this, pictures of the writers I love so much on this site revolved around in my head. Its where the good stuff comes from...and this my dear is good stuff.

Expression of self bleeds us onto the paper. Wounds reopened to heal & reveal to those of us that chose to not only recognize but embrace our full self scars and all. You kick started my Muse with your reality that is expertly placed for those of us that see your palatable life experience.
